When is it too cold to work?

Working in low temperatures can make for difficult and dangerous working conditions. Again, your employer must ensure the well-being of its workers. Employers are obliged to take measures to protect their workers and make work more bearable.

What are the minimum temperatures?

De minimumtemperaturen waarbij er nog gewerkt kan worden, zijn afhankelijk van de aard van de te verrichten arbeid: administratief werk of zware handenarbeid.

  • Very light work => 18°C
  • Light work => 16°C
  • Half-heavy work => 14°C
  • Heavy work => 12°C
  • Very heavy work => 10°C

What must the employer do?

The employer must draw up a risk analysis for each workstation and a corresponding action plan. The action plan includes various measures to protect workers from the cold.
